ASED clients are the Space Launch System (SLS) Program, International Space Station (ISS) Program, Gateway Program, Human Exploration Development and Operations (HEDO), space optics fabrication, earth and space sciences and advanced propulsion system development. As a partner with NASA for space exploration our impact is history in the making. The HEDO Gateway Launch Package Management task provides the technical interface for integration of Gateway modules with the SLS, Orion and the Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) programs. Interface integration includes systems engineering & integration and interface & systems management through collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and their developers of the Gateway Lunar International Habitation (I-Hab) module and the Lunar View module, and Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and their developer of the Airlock module. As a Sr. Systems Integration Engineer, you will serve as a primary point of contact between SLS, Orion, and EGS with ESA, MBRSC and Gateway subject matter experts to enable development of interface and service requirements and controls including verification and systems interface management for I-Hab, Lunar View and Airlock. You will also participate in HEDO and Gateway activities that relate to systems engineering and integration. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: + Enable and enhance the development and maintenance of payload integration agreements, interface requirements, interface control documents, and launch site support and service documents via reviews of products, participation in working groups, presentations at control board meetings, collaboration at technical interchange meetings and conducting or leading special studies. + Perform research to collect data and information that is used to formulate requirements, develop interfaces, determine verification methods, conduct trade studies, analyze data, identify options, and solve problems + Lead in determining, tracking, and facilitating closure of action items + Enable tracking of verification closures and flight readiness products + Assist in the identification, tracking and mitigation of risks, issues, concerns, and opportunities + Plan for milestone/readiness reviews (e.g., critical design, pre-shipment, and hardware turnover) including participation in the reviews via writing review item discrepancy comments and integration of comments + Assist in the determination of product exchange requirements between programs including tracking of exchanges + Log exports and imports including following export control policy and procedures **Qualifications:** A degree in Engineering or related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. with a minimum 9 years of experience; Masters with at least 13 years of experience, or a BS with at least 15 years of experience. The select candidate should have the following desired experience: + Experience in the integration of hardware and software + Direct knowledge of MSFC's SLS program, JSC's Orion program and KSC's EGS program and processes is desirable + An engineer who is pro-active, a leader, a good communicator, organized, and skilled with + Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office products including Microsoft SharePoint and OneNote + Ability to travel domestically and internationally + Advanced training or experience and knowledge of export control policies and procedures **Essential Functions** **Work Experience** Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (10%). Requires ability to work at a computer for long periods of time(100%) **Physical Requirements** Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (40%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%). **Equipment and Machines** Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%). **Attendance** Normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required. **Other Essential Functions** The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
